Vintage Chinese Longevity God Statue Shou Lao Hand Carved Pewter 
with Felicity Symbol. The Shou Lao / Longevity God, also known as Shou-Xing,
is an ancient Chinese Taoist god of long life and fortune. He is usually depicted holding a long staff in one hand and a peach of immortality in the other hand. Along side this particular statue is a crane (also a symbol of immortality) and a fawn.

Insect, also called Felicity, symbol on the Shou Lao's garb is a symbol
known to enhance longevity and health. It helps reveal early warning
signs of illness, assists body in casting off diseases and illness, 
and helps to focus mind on healing and healthy attitudes.
Pewter is an alloy consisting of mostly tin and it is the fourth most precious metal. It also has very small amounts of antimony and copper which is added mainly for strength and/or colour.
